I didn’t have to use my AK….

(my friend tk always finishes the sentence for me… but I do have to say it’s been a really good day!)

I came home from work, hopped on the elliptical for 5 min for a warmup, logged 6500 slow and easy meters on the rowing machine, did another 5 minute cooldown on the elliptical, then called my friend Kate to catch up.  Here’s the goofy post-workout photo of the day – with my Bondi Band!

Today was definitely a good mail day.  There were 2 packages in my mail this afternoon.

1.  I got one of the 3 Bondi Bands I ordered, plus a water bottle.  I am waiting for my 5K and breathe. bands.  The one I got was “I love running  I hate running  I love running  I hate running.”  I wore it while rowing and on the elliptical.  It didn’t move!  It stayed in place!  This is huge.  I have a lot of hair, and it’s hard to contain it appropriately.  We’ll see how it does in my 5k training workout tomorrow, but I’m sold!  I am going to wear this one and the breathe. one generally.  I am saving the 5K one till race day!

2.  Even more than the Bondi Bands, I’ve been waiting for the second package.  A few days ago, I saw this post on Tricia’s blog.  I love shiny things (I think I must have been a ferret in a past life *ooh, shiny!*), so I went to check out The Silver Maple.   I fell in love with many of the designs, lovingly handmade by Jacquelyn, including the Rockstar Bracelet which will be my reward for completing my 5K race in September.

But in the meantime, I wanted something that embodied who I am as a person.  And that’s when I remembered my slogan.  I emailed Jacquelyn, to ask her if the 3 words I wanted would fit on this necklace:  Mind, Body, Spirit Necklace.  She wrote back quickly, and it would fit!!  I promptly ordered my necklace.

And then I bought this domain name and started setting up the blog within a few hours of placing the order.

Last year, Sean bought me this gorgeous 105mm f2.8 lens for my Nikon.  Tonight, I dragged out a tripod, put the lens on the trusty D300, and shot the following photos.  The close-up shot will become my header on the site, once I figure out how I want to compose the header.

So, thank you, Tricia, for posting about the beautiful necklace you received.  And thank you, Jacquelyn, from the bottom of my heart.  Seeing your beautiful work has helped me to take the first steps toward my own creative path, wherever that may lead me.  And in the meantime, I have a tangible reminder that I do have what it takes, as long as I dream, I can strive, and I will succeed.
